Carpet floors are versatile, easy to lay down and well understood but they are not the only options for the living areas of assisted living facilities. Hardwood flooring can provide a decorative touch, especially in areas that are most likely to receive visitors. Hardwood floors are more expensive, and more difficult to maintain.

The excessive amount of moisture requires the building owner to make sure that the flooring in this area can withstand both the moisture. The moisture in the areas make it likely that mold, mildew and other environmental hazards that can grow in moist environments. The tile is easier to clean. If it is used in show areas, the assisted living facility owner needs to make sure the residents do not slip in the shower. A simple mat can prevent this.
